About the holiday

A shield of the nation since 1918

Armed Forces Day of Azerbaijan is celebrated on 26 June. On that day in 1918 the government of the young Azerbaijan Democratic Republic decided to create the first regular national army — the starting point of the country's modern Armed Forces.

Over a century the army travelled from the first units of the republic, through decades and trials, to today's modern, high-tech and victorious Armed Forces. This site is about their history, branches, strength and the 2020 victory that returned Karabakh to Azerbaijan.
